Peel offs........Balls at Art from the Heart

Had a fantastic day at AFTH, as usual, how can you not enjoy a day with Dy and like minded people.  It was fun all day and am going again next week to a 'pratting around day', but don't tell Ben that's what we will be doing.  Anyway the day was called Oodles of Backgrounds and that's just what we did.  I'd asked Dy to show me how to do her famous 'balls', so she gave us a demo, of course she makes it look easy peasy, but I can assure you it's not.  I've got to practice, practice, practice.  Here is my pathetic attempt...
Straight after lunch, when we were all a bit silly and giggly, we got onto the subject of peel offs and Dy said that just to teach us a lesson, because those of you who don't know Dy, she cannot, absolutely cannot, stand peel offs, so she made us use some.  Here's the result.....
I'm sure they will be covered up eventually, but it just goes to show, they do come in useful sometimes.

We did lots of pages, all of which I did in my new massive Moleskine with squares on the pages, which you can probably just see showing through.

I love the colours on this page.  We did so many different pages, goodness knows when I'll finish them all off.  We used a mixture of acrylic paints, Adirondack colour washes and of course, the piece de resistance, Dy's new Altered Original spray inks, which can be found here.

Well must go and complete the 3, yes 3, round robin journals that have appeared on my door mat this week.  Oooooo I'm sooooo stressed, lol.

Anything Goes Week 4

This weeks challenge is to create something using bright colours and cupcakes.  How do you do grungy with cupcakes???  Here's what I've done
Background paper is Shabby Chic, cupcake tops are grunge paper coloured with DI's mahogany and mustard seed, base of cupcakes are TSS metal in silver and pink.  Why not pop over here to see what others have created.

Just to let you know that the reason cupcakes was chosen is because it's someone's birthday on Thursday, she will be 50, find out who by clicking here.

Journal page

Went to AFTH the other day and made a fabulous Stampotique book, and learnt some new painty techniques, so decided to do a journal page.
I'm off up to AFTH again this week, can't wait because.........I've pre ordered Dy's new colour washes.  She has brought out 8 fabulous new colours which compliment the Ranger ones, and I hear she's bring out some more colours later.  You can see them here.

Anything Goes Week 3

The themes for this week are buttons and bows, monochrome.
Made this very last minute last night as we've been away for a few days.  Made a tag out of corrugated cardboard, painted with trad tan, put a bit of crackle paint on, then coloured with rusty hinge.  Stamped onto old book page which had been covered with gesso, which doesn't show up on the photo.  Put a few embellishments on and edged tag in vintage photo.

Pop over to have a look here at what other people have been creating.

Everything used on the tag available from Craft Den.

Another Man card

Well, had to make another card for a man.  This one is for my brother-in-law, had to get the old brain into gear to think of something, and this style is the one I had decided to make for my son-in-law but couldn't find a photo of James in his younger days.  I have plenty of my brother-in-law though, and as someone pointed out on my last posting (thanks Siobhan, had a good chuckle at your comment), it was being subtle about the age 40.  Geoff is much older and probably wouldn't appreciate having his age all over a card, not that that would stop me of course.
Paper background is Lost & Found,(I just adore this paper) I then put one of T!m's embossing folders through Big Shot and coloured with DI', film strip is T!m's, coloured with vintage photo.  Added a few embellishments, stamped sentiment and bits of machine stitching. Simples.

Well, can't believe it, the sun it out, yes it is not an illusion, oooops, it's just gone in again, thought it was too good to be true.

Hope you all have a good weekend, I will.... get to see my granddaughters, lots of food ...OMG the consultant has told me he's going to beat me with a big stick if I've not lost any weight when I next see him, and that's in 3 weeks time, is it possible to lose a couple of stone in that time, if you know the answer please let me know....quick...., a lake of booze, super company and lots of laughter.

40th Birthday

Today is my son-in-laws 40th birthday.  As usual I find mens cards frustratingly difficult to make.  This hasn't turn out as planned, went off at a tangent, as usual, but I still like it.
James lived the first part of his life in Africa and then, until he went to university, in France, so he loves everything French.  So I used a piece of French dictionary, usual DI's, then various 40 elements.

We're off down to Essex tomorrow to join in the celebrations, he's having a party and my grandchildren are soooo excited.

WOYWW Week 53

Well, I've not taken part in this for a few weeks, but seeing as it's a terrible, rainy, foggy morning here in north Sheffield, thought I'd show you what I'm up to.
And here's a closer look
I seem to be doing an awful lot with the TSS metal at the moment.  I've used T!m's floral tatters die to cut out some material, then cut out some metal of various colours, some have been through a cuttle bug folder first, then sanded down, some have been stamped on with fantastic Wendy Vecchi stamps, the butterfly and heart have been coloured with alcohol inks.  The chipboard piece is metal, terra and then coloured with acrylic and Viva previous metal in blue.  The box is a small wood box which I've covered with copper TSS and then coloured with acrylics, glimmer mists and crafty notions sprays, to give a patina effect.  I did try to use liver sulphur to do this but I don't this the TSS metal is proper copper metal so it didn't work, although I have now bought some solid copper and going to give it another try.  All the things in the photos are work in progress, some of which I have to finish this afternoon, after watching Ranger on QVC.  Loved watching Suze yesterday.  Thanks for looking, please pop over to Julia's blog and see what everyone else has been up to.

Anything Goes Week 2

Over on Anything Goes, this weeks challenge is to use the colours cream and pink and the theme is pearls and lace.
I used paper from T!m, the image is from a set of Joanna Sheen, flower is Cath Kidston fabric cut on the tattered floral die.

I wasn't too happy with this one, so decided to make another....
Background DI's, stamp from Blonde Moments, images from Lisa's Altered Art, machine stitched stems, made flowers out of muslin and coloured with DI.  Added a bit of lace and machine stitched round card.

Hope you all take a little time to pop over to this fun and different challenge to take a peep and maybe enter?

At last!!!!

At long last here's my May journal page.  I managed to complete it on time but have been so busy doing other things, that I forgot to take a photo.  Anyway remedied that and now all I have to do is start June's page.  Haven't done a thing to it yet but I'm keeping notes on what I will write in it.  Just got to figure how to put it on Flicker, I forget every month how to do it, must be my age!

Sunday Stampers Challenge 105 Wings

This weeks challenge over at Sunday Stampers is WINGS.

I cut out some greyboard with T!ms new die, triple embossed in red, then added some precious pearls in gold, and mounted onto some atlas paper.  The background is DI's in tattered rose, worn lipstick, old paper, and aged mahogany, finished off with computer generated sentiment.  Everything used available from Craft Den.
