Still a bit messy, lots to finish off though. The two hearts are for my granddaughters, still need lots of work, but at least I've started them, lol. They'll be teenagers by the time I finish them at this rate. Another Zentangle, but this time I've used black paper and white pens.
I wanted some additional storage and the mere mention of a trip to Ikea to Maurice, sent him scuttling into his garage, came out asked for some measurements and said he'd make me a unit, anything preferable to going to Ikea he said. Well I measured very carefully, a few times, he didn't trust my measurements (the space is very tight you see and I wanted it the same height as my desk) and he then made the unit, only.........he'd forgotten to take into account the casters, huh, typical of a man, so unfortunately the unit is higher than the desk. Glad he used his measurements, because me being so clever, I'd taken them into account, ha ha ha. Shalln't let him forget this in a hurry, so maybe will still get the trip to Ikea.
Why not pop over to Julia's blog and see what other people are doing.
Love those hearts Ann and the Zentangle is fab :) As you say good job he used his own measurements; better that you never let him forget rather than the other way round! hehe
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
It is a great unit though Ann! But I would store that teeny faux pas too, may well be useful later - in say, oh, 20 years!!
ReplyDeleteLove the hearts, they are coming on better on your desk than they would on mine!!
The hearts and the zentangle are just wonderful. Good on your hubbie to make the desk - but keep going for an Ikea trip!!
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing what you do with those hearts.
ReplyDeleteA x
wow men will do anything to avoid IKEA! I am going to try that one on himself and see if he scuttles off to make me more work space! Its a gorgeous desk!
ReplyDeleteThere is just no telling them!
ReplyDeleteHugs pam x
Lovely desk and a typical man LOL
ReplyDeletelove the zentangle... isn't one upmanship a wonderful thing - a tool for the future... now imagine if it had been the other way round - he'd never have let it lie about a womans measuring - not that i know your maurice you understand - but he's male - that's what they do... so what better than to give them a spoon of their medicine. Must say tho, he has done a good job apart from it being taller - you gotta give him that much.
ReplyDeletePaula x x x
I think he made it higher for use with your BS, and it look a lot more substantial that an Ikea one. My HB reacts just the same at the mention of a visit. ikki
ReplyDeletewow i love those hearts - your zentangling is just rocking!!!
ReplyDeleteI think maurice has done a great job. I don't like ikea either. The hearts look interesting, looking forward to seeing them finished.Love Sandra x
ReplyDeletebless him, what a great piece of carpentry and it must have saved you money, which you can now use on craft things, dont you think, LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the hearts so far ...but that Zentangle is brilliant . I have mused over doing it on black but all my white pens are rubbish
ReplyDeleteso funny about the measurements - but it is a great unit and done so quickly so don't think you can complain! Got my OTTLITE - perhaps this WOYWW should be renamed the shopping channel!
ReplyDeleteLinbyx
Well he gets an A for effort don't you think
ReplyDeleteThose hearts look gorgeous. I have to say on your hubbys defence I wish my hubby was as good at diy that unit is wonderful xx
ReplyDeleteFantastic zentangle and can't wait to see the finished hearts
ReplyDeleteOh wow he's very clever (if we gloss over the height) and what a fab bit of storage you have there. I think you still need a trip to ikea though xx
ReplyDeleteGreat unit Ann. I wish I had a craft room to put a unit in!! xx

Now Ann, don't be too harsh with Maurice - he's made a great job of that unit - and as already mentioned, it does look more substantial than one you'd get at Ikea - and who's to say THEY'D have the height you wanted anyway? Stuff on your desk looks very interesting - don't forget to post when you've finished them! x x
ReplyDeleteEverything on your desks looks fab especially the Zentangle, really NEED to have a go!!
ReplyDeleteThe hearts are beautiful and at least 7/10 to Maurice for trying!!

Love your storage and those hearts are right up my street as I collect hearts, I love them, whether for the house, garden or on my rubber stamps. Enjoyed my visit. Tracy Evans x x (www.craftaddicts-tracyevans.blogspot.com)
ReplyDeleteohooo great job and in 'real' wood!!! (Mine's all 1 by 2 and MDF!
ReplyDeleteyour desk is very interesting - a very nice snoop, love the zentangle! Ha, ha how lucky that he didn't use your measurements! I am sure you will get your Ikea trip!
ReplyDeleteCardarian
Another yellow gun thingy!!! Like the look of those hearts and what a clever OH to make the extra storage even if it is a tincy bit tool - chop the legs off (the table, not your OHs!!) Juliexx
ReplyDeleteoops meant tall!!! Have crafting brain!!!
ReplyDeleteI think Maurice is a keeper ;-) the storage unit looks great.
ReplyDeletethanks for visiting my desk
Cathy, xxx
There isn't an IKEA within a thousand miles of where I live, so I would be in hog heaven to have that. When I saw it, I thought "island." That's how I'd use it. Your husband did a good job, but you took fantastic measurements.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm so late visiting, and on my first ever WOYWW. Unexpected company interrupted my computer time today. I'll be back, that's for sure.
Sorry I'm so late or early as it is 6am Thursday morning, I had a very busy day yesterday not been able to comment on anyone's desk or look at my comments.
ReplyDeleteThose hearts look wonderful I must ask you about those when I see you this am and also the Zentangle love it.
Pat xx
oh my, how gorgeous does your desk look :) ... so much creating :) ... those hearts are fab
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely unit and I'm sure the faux pas was intentional as he is going to casters on your desk so you are movable. :)
ReplyDeleteI do like the hearts, they're coming on great and that Zentangle is superb! Ah well, what're you gonna do about the desk? At least you have a "man who can" which must come in useful sometimes!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Wow Great unit!
ReplyDeleteWhat a man! How wonderful that he is so handy! Just ask him to add casters to your desk & things should work out :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks too good to reject - remove the casters or raise the desk, IKEA would never fit the space so well!
ReplyDeleteThose hearts look fabulous. I can't wait to see them finished. Please share how you made/make them.
ReplyDeleteMen and ikea just dont mix, mine's the same lol
ReplyDeletegreat desk, shame about the mis-measure but lots of scrummy space to store your stash non the less
what a handy hubby to make you this storage desk...and so many fun projects too!
