WOYWW Week 46

I'm afraid this is a 'staged' photo as I'm working on something which I have to finish for tonight and and I don't want the recipient to see it.  So some things are works in progress....
I've decided to catalogue my stamps as I seem to be buying some of them twice, I'm sure none of you have ever done that, yeah right.  So some of my latest purchases already stamped, 365 Art Journal front, a piece of paper I bought yesterday, a magnolia image, I know not my style, painted with DI's waiting to be made into a card, and on the left hand side is a little book we made last week at Craft Den.  I used the new Sir T!m papers which are fantastic, I love them, just waiting for photos to be added then I shall give it to my sister-in-law.

Yesterday we went to Barnsley flea market, well what an experience.  Now I don't want to upset anyway, but can you explain why someone would want to buy a pair of second hand shoes that had holes in the soles?  Anyway, I was hoping to pick up some interesting second hand books, particularly with tables in.  When I explained this to Maurice he said he'd got some old text books from his student days which I could have.  Couldn't wait to get home and get my hands on them.  This is one of them...
He's written his name and the year on the inside cover, bless.  5/- was a lot of money in 1961.  Besides lots of pages of tables, there are adverts and I think the one on the right hand side is brilliant
I love the book so much that I don't want to destroy it by using any of the pages, so will have to go searching again.

Hope you all have a good day and take time to pop over to WOYWW and have a nosey.

  5. Love that book, I couldn't destroy it either. I have to catalogue my stamps too (at last count - several months ago - there were over 1000 - well over!!) and yes, occasionally I do duplicate - but I take the binder to shows with me to refer to.

  6. What a dilemma to find yourself in! I don't think I could destroy that book either... keep searching. Had a REAL chuckle at you buying double of some of your stamps - now why I am not surprised that you didn't know you had already bought them.... perhaps because you've got so many you could stock a warehouse!

  8. what a fab book - was relived when you said you weren't going to cut it up... such nostalgia... Had to laugh about the shoes story - my Aunty had a carboot once and put a BRAND new pair of leather shoes - uppers and soles on for a couple of quid and someone asked her if she'd take 75p for them - nowt so funny as folk!!!

Can i suggest a charity shop for books failing the flea market. Chesterfield have their flea market on a Thursday - not sure if you knew and not too far away.

  10. You could always scan pages of the book to use for your projects and distress the paper to give it the vintage look... great images, and no book ruined!
    Love the 'staged' pic!

  13. like your idea about the stamps, I nearly bought one again last week, but I had a thought in the back of my mind that it looked familiar and I was right! It just shows your taste doesn't change much! Love the book. I have had the same problem as I love books and so have acquired some really lovely old books that I will never read and can't bear to tear up! K x It will be interesting to see your secret project...
